PICAYUNE —
Picayune Memorial High School (PMHS) is hosting a Winter Wonderland at Jack Read Park which will be open to the public on December 16th from 7 to 10 p.m. and 17th from 5 to 10 p.m.
The event will offer photo opportunities with Santa and his elves, holiday movies on the lawn with complimentary hot chocolate and popcorn and an ice skating rink that will be located on Goodyear Boulevard which will only charge $10 per person to skate.
“The westbound lane in front of Jack Read Park will be closed for placement of the rink from Sunday around 2 p.m. through Tuesday around 3 p.m.,” said Vice principal Kristi Mitchell.
“PMHS is proud and excited to offer the event to our students but we are more excited about our students wanting to give back to the community. What started out as a reward system for our students has overflowed into our students giving back to the community and the younger students.
“This event will cap off an important week in the lives of PMHS students as they are now engaged in the State Subject Area Testing,” she said.
Student groups participating are National Honors Society, Theater, BETA Club and others.
