PICAYUNE —
The Picayune on Stage (POS) production, “Crazy Quilt Club” by Pat Cook, will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 27th, 28th, 29th and May 4th, 5th and 6th at the POS theater at 322 West Canal Street. Friday and Saturday shows start at 8 p.m. and Sunday is a matinee at 2 p.m.
“The Crazy Quilt Club” is being co-directed by Nick Chatalain and Donna Aguilard. The show is about six older ladies that live together in a retirement home. They are looked after by Dr. Joyce Lydecker (Noel Bourdeu) the niece of Veronica Blather (Diana Joseph). Veronica is a sweet old lady who spends most of her time knitting and solving murders, most of which occur whenever she shows up. Understandably, she has a problem finding a place to live.
When Joyce invites her to stay at the retirement home, it seems ideal — until one of it's members dies from drinking bad punch. Or was it poisoned? Who did it? Was it Matilda (Shannon Catoire), the president of the Crazy Quilt Club? Or Clara (Cecile Ingram), a compulsive liar? And what about the wise-cracking Sarafina (Jessica LaCour) who doesn't trust anybody and carries a rifle just to be sure? The snoopy Myrtle Ipswitch (Toni Tucker)? Or what about Viola (Annette Lestremau) or Lydia (Liz Flynt)?
Clues drop as fast as corpses, as Lieutenant McCoy (Tim Alt) shows up, just to muddy the waters more. Add in a black widow spider, a drafty old cave, a gold nugget, an ominous phone call and light begins to dawn on Veronica. That is just before the storm knocks out all the lights.
Dialogue races along and keeps the audience guessing till the last minute in this ferocious mystery comedy.

Spring is now in full swing at the Crosby Arboretum, and the show is well on its way toward a crescendo. The blooms of native purple Iris can be seen along the edge of the Piney Woods pond, pink “honeysuckle” azalea is flowering near the Pinecote Pavilion, and the yellow blooms of the pitcher plants — called “buttercups” by local residents — are beginning to carpet the south Savanna Exhibit.

Lamont Rowlands house important to historical heritage
Pat Crosby first moved to the Lamont Rowlands house in 1992.
Although she found the home in disrepair, she couldn’t imagine not living there and knew that was her new home.
“It just spoke to me, and it still does,” said Crosby, the wife of the late Tommy Crosby, son of R.H. Crosby. Tommy Crosby completely renovated the home and grounds. -
Pearl River County Arts League Art Show and Sale
Pearl River County Arts League Art Show and Sale will be held on Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 24, from noon till 4 p.m. at The Knights of Columbus Hall, 408 Carroll Drive. The show is open to all artists and admission is free to the public.
