KOC Art Show “Life in Art”

PICAYUNE — The Knights of Columbus Council 6872 will be holding an art show entitled “Life in art,” September 11 and 12, at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Carroll Street.

The categories are for Oils, Acrylics, Watercolors, Photography, 3—D Art, and Pen, Ink, Pencil and Mixed media. There is no age restriction for artists and no size limitations.

Entries can be registered on September 9, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., and September 10, from 9 a.m. to noon.

There will be a Preview party and reception Friday evening, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for Patrons and Artists, where cash prizes will be given.

Show Chair, Eve Mahony, says “We have had an outstanding amount of entries this year, which is sure to make this event one not to miss!”

This year’s judge will be Mrs. April Holifield, an award winning artist, and owner of April’s Art Studio.

Holifield was born in New Orleans and her artistic development was encouraged at a young age by both of her artistic parents. Her mother was a renowned potter and her father was an artist.

Holifield has studied art in both Loyola and Delgado Colleges. She has studied privately under Richard Boyle, Henry Henche, Martha Ambrose, David Rossbach, Charlene Null, and Paul Jackson.

Holifield’s work can be found through out the United States, Costa Rica, Mexico and Germany.

She currently is the President of the Pearl River County Arts League and teaches from her Studio in Picayune.
