PICAYUNE — Covenant Health & Rehab of Picayune is a 2012 recipient of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The National Quality Award program honors facilities across the nation for demonstrating their commitment to quality improvement. Only four Mississippi facilities were included in the 2012 recognition, two in the bronze category and two in silver.

“We initiated the process to qualify for a Bronze Award because it recognizes our current excellent level performance, but it also encourages us to set the bar even higher in the future,” said Keri Ladner, NHA, administrator of Covenant Health & Rehab of Picayune. “I want to thank our staff for a job well done.”

Covenant Health & Rehab of Picayune offers skilled nursing and rehabilitation services for both short-stay and long-term patients.

The National Quality Award Program centers on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program and helps long-term and post-acute care service providers achieve their performance excellence goals.

Facilities begin the quality improvement process at the Bronze level by developing an organizational profile with essential performance elements, assessing customers’ expectations, and demonstrating their ability to implement a performance improvement system. A team of trained examiners reviews each Bronze application to determine the facility meets the criteria.

As a recipient of the Bronze - Commitment to Quality award, Covenant Health & Rehab of Picayune is eligible to move forward in developing approaches and achieving performance levels to meet the criteria for the Silver - Achievement in Quality award.

“The commitment these facilities have made to quality care does not stop with this benchmark award,” says Chick Stepahin, chair of the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers. “The journey to quality care requires dedication, and Covenant Health & Rehab of Picayune has risen to the challenge.”

Ladner and the facility’s director of nursing, Kristal Robertson, accepted the award at AHCA/NCAL’s 63rd Annual Convention and Exposition in Tampa, Fla. Covenant Health & Rehab of Picayune is a subsidiary of the Covenant Dove Group.

Covenant Dove and its affiliates operate 57 skilled nursing facilities in 12 states.
