Picayune tourism: The economics
The recent 2012 Anglican Synod held in Picayune brought with it thousands of dollars into the local economy. The visitors traveled to Picayune from across the eastern United States, spending money at local hotels, restaurants, and retail establishments. Obviously, this is money that would have never found its way into the local economy had the event not occurred.

New position at Coast Electric will enhance member service
LeAyn Walton has been named Director of Member Services at Coast Electric Power Association. Walton, formerly the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Financial and Administrative Services John Holston, will take on a role that is new to her and the cooperative.

Synod 2012 making impact on local economy
January is typically an off-peak month for hotels and tourism but January 2012 has been an exception for Picayune thanks to both the rival Alabama vs. LSU game and especially the 2012 Anglican Synod held by the Diocese of the Eastern United States, which was hosted by St. Barnabas Anglican Church.

E.Jae James is the studio owner. He holds a B.F.A in dance education from the University of Southern Mississippi and many other certifications in dance. He also holds several dance titles, choreography/technique awards and has had high scoring groups.

Picayune Postal Service Annex and Salon Rubin play Santa to needy family
The Picayune Postal Service Annex teamed up with Salon Rubin and gathered 75 gifts along with $600 cash to give to a family in Slidell. Both parents have been battling cancer. The postal service employees said the effort was a big success and all donations were much appreciated.

Capt. Carven Scott relieved Capt. Edmund Cataldo as commanding officer of the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Reserve Activity (NMORA) Headquarters Unit 0282 in a traditional change of command and retirement ceremony at Stennis Space Center.
