The Picayune Item
PICAYUNE —
Currently, the Picayune Item contracts delivery of our Sunday product to the households of our subscribers.
Rising gas prices put us in a position where we now find it more and more difficult to contract our delivery service. We have investigated options that would bring accuracy and timeliness of delivery while at the same time maintains cost effectiveness.
This and a number of other factors have led us to the decision to put our trust for delivery of the newspaper in the U.S. Postal Service.
With this in mind, the Picayune Item will change from a Sunday newspaper delivered by contractors to a “Weekend” edition delivered daily by the United States Postal Service on Saturday, and on Tuesday through Friday. Additionally, the Picayune Item will no longer be delivered on U.S. Postal Service holidays: Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, New Year’s Day, and Independence Day.
The change to our new “Weekend” edition will officially take place on Saturday, October 6, 2012. We are excited to be able to offer this weekend package.
