FIRING POTTERY

FIRING POTTERY — “Fire in the Swamp,” a three-day celebration of local fire and metal artists at Dragons Watch Forge in Picayune, drew to a close on Sunday. Adding a twist to the event, and proving it wasn’t all about the metal, were local pottery students from Paint Your Own Studio in Picayune who drew a big crowd during their Raku pottery demonstrations. This alluring metallic glaze involves several steps from kiln to finish and on hand to help the students with her abundance of expertise was local Raku potter Kelly Landrum-Hammell, center, of 3 Dog Pottery in Carriere.
