While the Pearl River County Courthouse, above, looks okay on the outside, inside it needs an overhaul. Electrical lines are out in the open and there are leaks and major repairs needed. The courthouse was constructed in 1918 for $130,000. An electrical box, at right, just outside the courtroom is not safe, and probably violates a fire code. There are other electrical boxes that are out in the open, too, the Grand Jury reported. The Grand Jury report calls for refurbishing and expanding the Courthouse and Courthouse Square in Poplarville, the county seat.
