BEERS STREET

Work has gotten underway on improving drainage and repairing erosion on Beers Street in Poplarville, and the street will be closed west of Pine Street for about a month while work is going on. The project, necessitated by damage done by hurricanes Katrina and Isaac, will cost $26,156.95, with FEMA picking up $6,815.16 and Poplarville the remainder of the bill, said project engineer Jason Lamb of Walker and Associates of Hattiesburg. The board of aldermen approved the project in its December meeting.
