ENDANGERED HISTORICAL STRUCTURE — The Picayune Colored Gymnasium at 420 N. Jackson Ave. is a victim of Hurricane Katrina and lack of maintenance since it became vacant in the 1990s. Once a hub of the African American community in Picayune, the building now stands in a state of disrepair. The building has been named as one of the 10 Most Endangered Historic Places in Mississippi.
