Happy New Year

For every Fourth and New Year’s Day holidays fire works stands pop up for the celebrations across the county for folks to enjoy. In the photo above, Heather Crowe at Keith’s, 3036 Hwy. 43 North, helps Dustin Brock stock up so he can ring in the New Year Monday night. In the photo on the right, Brenda Wilson and her daughter, Heaven, await the rush at Turk’s at Inside Road and 43. Officials urged caution to residents popping fireworks. Fireworks can be traced back to 7th Century China, where they were invented. Much of the fireworks sold in the U.S. are imported from China, the world’s largest manufacturer of fireworks. The Chinese believe popping fireworks wards off evil spirits and brings good fortune to those who pop them.
