Two men are dead and two others were seriously injured after a dispute occurred at a local gun store over a $25 repair fee.

Pearl County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Shane Tucker said the department responded to a call of a shoot out at a gun store in Henleyfield Saturday evening.

When investigators arrived they were told that earlier that afternoon a man and his son came to the store to collect a gun they dropped off to be repaired. Tucker said that when the men found out there would be a $25 charge for a portion of the work, they became argumentative with the female owner of the store. The owner called her husband to come and deal with the disgruntled customers, who arrived a short time later with his son, Tucker said.

While the male owner and his son attempted to speak with the customers, the dispute escalated to the point of gun shots being exchanged from both sides, Tucker said. A father and son died from gunshot wounds exchanged in the altercation, while the other father and son were transported to a hospital by helicopter for treatment of serious injuries, Tucker said. 

The names of those involved has not been released yet, Tucker said. Identification of the deceased and the injured will be released once the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab has processed the scene, and the Pearl River County Coroner has notified next of kin.
